Recordkeeping & Practical Responsibilities
Why consistency wins compliance
Why records matter
Records prove that controls actually operated. Without consistent documentation, the firm cannot demonstrate compliance to SEPBLAC, auditors or supervisors.
Retention principles
Spanish law requires retention of CDD documentation and transaction records for at least 10 years. Records must be retrievable, complete and protected from tampering.
Internal routines
Use consistent templates, file naming and review checkpoints. AML compliance is operational discipline, not a one-off task.
Compliance culture
Strong AML culture means every team member — not just compliance — owns the integrity of the firm. Training, escalation and consistency build that culture.
